The kitchen organization involves making a list of some essential food containers you need. To help you with this task, simply consider your cooking and food habits. Do you often take cupcakes along to soccer games or to picnics? If so, then you will need to buy one or two cupcake carriers so put that on your list. If you tend to take meal leftovers to school or work you will need a few flat, divided containers that are microwave safe. If you prepare many make-ahead meals to store in the freezer for later use you will need several casserole dishes with airtight lids.
Every kitchen should have a set of about twenty assorted sizes of plastic containers. You can use these containers for school lunches. They also are great to have on hand when you have a small amount of food leftover from dinner which you would like to store in the refrigerator so that it can be eaten for lunch the next day. These assorted containers are also useful for storing tuna salads in, for cut up fruits and for soups. Be sure that the food containers you buy are of high quality and that the lids fit on the containers tightly as they will keep your foods fresher while being stored for a day or two.
